The Maldives is unusual amongst tropical destinations in that it is a great place to visit all year round with an enviable amount of sunshine, enough rain to ensure the islands retain their deep emerald green centres and near-constant warm temperatures that make travelling light easy. As for the duration of your holiday, anything goes – Veligandu is just as well suited to long breaks where you can relax fully into island life and enjoy all it has to offer or, indulge in a mini-break you’ll never forget – but be warned, this will leave you longing to come back!
The seasons of the Maldives follow two main monsoons. From November to April, Veligandu experiences its high season with little wind but a lot of sun, the sea is mostly calm and the visibility underwater is at its greatest. The weather from May to October is less settled and brings more cloudy days and slightly more rain but still plenty of sunshine. The underwater visibility is slightly reduced due to the plankton-rich water flowing through the atoll but for divers and snorkelers, this is exciting news as this is food for whale sharks and manta rays! Low season is a great time to visit if you’re searching for a good deal as there are often more special offers available.
Once you’ve decided when to visit, the next decision will be how long to stay for. At Veligandu you can be as busy or relaxed as you like, with a wide range of experiences on offer. Almost everyone spending their holidays with us here wishes they had ‘just another week’ – even if they’ve spent two weeks already! Enjoy water sports in the calm lagoon, snorkel the amazing reefs, go scuba diving with hammerhead sharks at the world-renowned Rasdhoo site, treat your mind, body and soul at the award-winning Duniye Spa and tickle your taste buds at some of the best restaurants in the Maldives – could you fit all this into the best romantic mini-break ever?
It’s always a good time to visit Veligandu Island Resort & Spa; you’ll love it, however long you stay.
