Where there is the ocean, you will never get bored. Ocean activities are a must-do adventure while you are in the Maldives. The Ocean Dive and Water Sports Centre in Veligandu are well equipped for over and underwater thrills, fun, and relaxing ocean escapades from paddle boats to jet-ski rides, sailing, and many more.
Perhaps no leisure pursuits get you closer to marine life than scuba diving. It allows hand-to-hand acquaintance with the fascinating sea creatures that you may not be able to fascinate from the surface of the water. The Maldives ranks as the best scuba diving destination across the globe due to the perfect temperature of the ocean and the breathtaking marine world.
The most popular three dive spots near Veligandu are Madivaru Corner, Kuramathi Thila, and Cave, just 10-30 minutes from the resort. Without a doubt, Madivaru Corner is the most spectacular dive site that never disappoints. There is a mesmerising diversity of marine species that range from large pelagic species to small pelagic fish, small critters, and beautiful corals – soft and hard. It is the definite favourite of our divers and dive professionals alike.
Kuramathi Thila, aka Rasdhoo Channel, is the channel between Kuramathi Island and Rasdhoo Island. Several beautiful Thilas lined up on the channel drop-off. Myriads of pelagic fishes swim towards the right current conditions. There are big sandy patches in between these Thilas that create impressive landscapes. Due to its depth, this dive site is for Advanced Divers only, best on Nitrox.
‘The Caves’ is a wall dive site on the western side of Rasdhoo Atoll, approximately 30 min boat ride from Veligandu. The large overhangs and two small caves are an absolute highlight of this dive site. The abundance of healthy coral species with a garden of stunning table corals on the top reef less than 10m deep is spectacular.
Diving is undoubtedly more complex than any other water activity. It requires special equipment and training before you can dive into deep waters. To prepare you for your ocean adventures, our ocean Dive Center has a perfect range of PADI diving courses from beginner to professional levels.
