Fathuhulla Ibrahim

General Manager

Fathuhulla joined in February, 1989.
He graduated with GCE O Level in Baa Atoll Education Center and began his work experience as an Office Trainee; then Gift Shop Assistant; then Assistant Storekeeper; then Receptionist; then Head Cashier; then promoted as Assistant Manager in January, 1994; then promoted to his current position in January, 1996.
Fathuhulla is married, makes his home in Male’ and enjoys playing football, fishing and reading.

Adam Rasheed

Director of Operations

Adam joined in 1998.
He started his career at Hilton Maldives & Spa on Rangali Island Resort as F&B Outlet (s) Captain in 1997. From 1998 he worked as a Restaurant Senior Waiter, from 2000 as Restaurant Captain, from 2002 as Restaurant Manager and from 2005 as F&B Manager at Veligandu Island Resort. In 2011, he was transferred to Meeru Island Resort as F&B Operations Manager. In 2012, he was transferred to Vilamendhoo Island Resort as F&B Manager. Then in 2016, he was transferred back to Meeru Island Resort as Reservation Manager. In 2016, he was transferred to Kuredu Island Resort & Spa as F&B Manager and transferred to Veligandu on October 28, 2017 as a Director of Operations as his current role.
Adam enjoys football, windsurfing, table tennis, listening to music, cooking and travelling.

Abdul Sattar

Front Office Manager

“Satto” joined in 1993.
As the Front Office Manager, he controls the day-to-day functions of the Front Office. His work includes the efficient management of guests’ arrival and departure, ensuring that his team of Receptionists carry out a professional and friendly service when handling information. Liaising with Guest Services and Guest Transport on special requests brought to the desk by the guest.
He completed Certificate III in Food & Drinks Service at Faculty of Hospitality in December, 2007, completed Professional English Intermediate course in Language Learning Center in Male, Maldives. And graduated BTEC National Diploma in Hospitality, Maldives National University in June 2013.
He began his career as a Room Boy in Veligandu Island Resort & Spa in 1993. Then in 1996, transferred to Food & Beverage as Senior Waiter; then in 2007, promoted as Restaurant Manager; then in 2008, Head Bartender; then in 2010, promoted as Bar Manager in 2010; then in August 2013, Assistant Executive Housekeeper; then in January, 2014 promoted as Assistant Front Office Manager and in 2017 his current role, as Front Office Manager, Veligandu Island Resort & Spa.
Satto is married and he has a son and a daughter. He loves water sports, playing volleyball, music, and entertainment. He speaks fluent English and Dhivehi and basic conversation in German and Italian.

Mohamed Naeem

Chief Engineer

Mohamed Naeem “Naeem” joined in June, 1989.
He graduated as a Welder & Sheet Metal Worker, Faculty of Engineering, Male’, in 1978.
After which, he served in various positions in the Maldives including Supervisor, Maldives Transport & Contracting; then as Welder, Kuredu; then as Welder, Male’; then in June, 1989, as Maintenance Supervisor, then in November, 2000, promoted as Maintenance Manager and in 2016, promoted to­ Chief Engineer, Veligandu.
Naeem is the “backbone” of the long serving Maintenance Team.
He is married, makes his home in Male’, and enjoys watching sports, reading, and making things work properly.

John Sebastian

Financial Controller

“John” joined in 2014.
He is in charge of Accounts Department including Accounts, Stores, Purchase and IT.
John graduated with a Master degree in Commerce from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India in 1993.
He began his work experience as Assistant Accountant in India; then Accountant, Fototeknik, Maldives; then promoted as Chief Accountant; then Credit Controller, Crown Tours Maldives; then promoted as Chief Accountant; then transferred to Biyadhoo Island Resort as Chief Accountant; then in 2013, Chief Accountant, Meeru Island Resort; then in 2014, transferred to Veligandu Island Resort as Chief Accountant; promoted as Assistant Financial Controller in 2015, and was promoted in 2017 as Financial Controller, his current position. John is married with two kids and makes his home in Alleppey, Kerala, India. He enjoys listening to music, playing Volleyball and Badminton.

Sunil Kumar

IT Manager

Sunil Kumar “Kumar” joined in April, 2014.­
He graduated with a Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunications, IETE, New Delhi, India, in 1999.
Kumar began his work experience as Senior Executive Faculty, Accel PVT Ltd.,­ Chennai, India, in January, 2000; then in September, 2008, as IT Manager, Hilton Maldives Irufushi; then in May 2010, as IT Manager, Kuredu; then in June, 2011, transferred to his current position.
Kumar is married, makes his home in Kerala, India, and enjoys music and reading.

Cyrus Mathiasz

Purchasing Manager

Cyrus joined in 2005.
He graduated with GCE O Level at St. Mary’s College, Dehiwala, Sri Lanka.
Cyrus began his career in 1981 as Receptionist; then in 1987, Bellboy cum Telephone Operator, UAE; then in 1988, Front Office Supervisor, then in 1990, Duty Manager, then Assistant FO Manager in various Five Star Hotels in the Middle East & Sri Lanka before coming to the Maldives; then in 2005 FO Manager, then in 2010 as Purchasing Manager, Vilamendhoo Island Resort; then in 2013, Purchasing Manager Meeru Island Resort; then in 2016 transferred to Veligandu Island Resort as Purchasing Manager.
Cyrus is Married. Enjoys Sports, Swimming, Dancing and Listening to Music.

Siegbert Horn

Executive Chef

Siegbert “Sigi” Horn joined in April, 2014.­
He graduated as Chef Apprentice, Kassel Germany, in 1974; and with a Degree as Master Chef, Industrie and Handelskammer, Frankfurt, Germany, in 1983.
After which, Sigi served in a variety of Executive Chef positions in Germany including Park Hotel Hessenland, Kassel; then Romantic Hotels, Garmisch Partenkirchen and Landshut; then in the USA, Kranzlers, Houston; ARA Services, Convention Centers in Colombia Lakes, Texas and New Orleans; then at various restaurants in Germany; then for 5 years aboard passenger cruise lines; then at the Senegambia Beach Hotel, Gambia; then the Ocean Bay Hotel, Gambia; then back to the cruise lines; and in April, 2014, to Veligandu.
Sigi is married, a grandfather, makes his home in Ahnatal, Germany, and enjoys sailing and tennis.­

Aurelien Raphael Gliozzo

Food & Beverage Manager

Aurelien joined in June 2018.
He started his career in Hospitality in 2005 as Chef completing his apprenticeship in Hotel Movenpick Lausanne, Switzerland in 2008. After two experiences as Chef, at Hotel Chateau d’Ouchy, Lausanne in 2009 as Commis Chef and again at Hotel Movenpick Lausanne as Second Chef the Partie Kitchen in 2009, Aurelien decided to join the Hotel Management School of Geneva, Switzerland where he was graduated in 2013.
Following his graduation, he decided to see new horizon and has been hired for his first experience abroad as F&B Management Trainee in Kempinski Yinchuan, China from 2013 to 2014. Once his management training completed, he was transferred to Kempinski Chongqing, China as Assistant F&B Manager from 2014 to 2016. End of 2016, Aurelien got his first assignment as F&B Manager in Sofitel Saigon Plaza in Vietnam. After 1 and half year in Vietnam, he decided to join Veligandu Island in 2018.
Aurelien likes ice hockey, playing pool and travelling. He speaks fluent French & English.

Chrizanne Malherbe

Executive Housekeeper

Chriz joined in 2016.
As Executive Housekeeper of Veligandu Island Resort & Spa she ensures the Resort’s guest and staff accommodation, facilities and public areas are clean, comfortable and the highest standard.
In 1998, she completed her National Senior Certificate in South Africa. In 2002, she completed her 3 Year Diploma in North Link College, Bellville, South Africa. From 2002 to 2003, she worked in Housekeeping / Reception at Big Meadows Lodge, Virginia U.S.A and then in 2004, Housekeeping Inspector at Daufuskie Resort and Breathe Spa, South Carolina, USA. Then in 2007, Guest Service Assistant, Diaz Strand Hotel and Resort, South Africa; Then in 2008, Stateroom Stewardess, Crystal Cruises / Seabourn Cruise and then in 2012, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Seabourn Odyssey, 6 Star Cruise Liner. Then in 2016, Relief Manager,­ Jakkalsvlei Private Wine Cellar, South Africa; then again in 2016 Accommodation Reservations Manager, Santos Express, South Africa until she joined Veligandu in 2017 as Executive Housekeeper.
Chrizanne enjoys diving (PADI qualified), swimming and reading. She speaks English & Afrikaans.­
